Anyone whose been around my bikes knows I’m am a huge fan of classic track aesthetics. So, when I saw this image posted on SJFixed’s Flickr I got super excited. It’s nice to see some “new classic” track bits hitting the scene.

IRD Defiant Track Crank is designed to be reminiscent of the Campy Strada and Sugino Mighty cranks of the 1970’s. But instead of CNC’ing from billet, they cold forge these before adding the fluting details. IRD claims his makes for a stronger, more reliable design.

Polished finish
Cold forged, then CNC’d 6061 T6 aluminum arms
144BCD spider with 7075-T6 aluminum 46t chainring (CNC’d and polished)
JIS square taper
165mm, 167.5 and 175mm lengths

Look for these to drop this week at around $160.00

Cycle Underground produces their chainrings one at a time in a single setup which means that once the piece of material is placed onto there jig it does not come off until it has been completely machined. So both the bolt holes and the teeth are produced together in the one setting so no high spots….read that again…..no high spots.

They come in 9 different designs, 30 tooth to 56tooth, anodized and polished, in every BCD you can imagine. And if they don’t a jig for the BCD you need, they’ll make one for you.

And the they run $30.00-$45.00 (aus).

Go to their site for full details.
