BFOC is at it again:
We’re closing down the street in Bishop Arts for the first ever Brew Riot Festival sponsored by
Eno’s, with proceeds going to Go Oak
Cliff! The event is on Saturday, June 12th from 6PM to 10PM.
There’s going to be 8 homebrewer’s on hand giving samples of their brews
along with a handful of micro brews including New Belgium, Real Ale,
and more.
Once it starts getting dark, Lonestar Gold Sprints
will be on hand to hold some outdoor stationary sprints. We’ll also
have a giant outdoor chess set, live music, and more. The street closure
starts at 6PM, and 75208 is planning on heading a ride from Downtown to
the event. We’ll post more details as soon as they’re announced.

Our friends over at Bike Friendly Oak Cliff have organized a casual discussion about the how’s of frame building.
Come join us for a discussion with Tim, from Massengill frames, and Glenn, from Daltex Handmade Bicycles. Topics will range from framebuilding, design, materials, as well as the path these guys took to learn the craft of framebuilding. The lecture will be held at noon on Sunday, February 21st, at the autoshop class beside Adamson High School (201 E 9th St, Dallas, TX 75203). The shop teacher, Kenny Cotton, also happens to be co-owner of YBS bikes.

Along with a video interview of Danish planner, Jan Gehl, Bike Friendly Oak Cliff has a nice point of view on bicycle infrastructure and shared streets:
“This is a major point we stress at BFOC when discussing bicycle lane and boulevard development. It’s not merely a way to allow cyclists safe space to ride, but the implementation changes the overall psychology of a street, making it notably focused on people. It’s one tool of many that cities experiencing major revitalization and redevelopment have used with great success (ie. Portland, Austin, Boulder).” -BFOC
