Stairways to Heaven

On November 15, 2009 the people at TakeoverLA threw a race that consisted of 3 sprints and 2 sets of stair-climbs that eventually lead to a free for all race to the Bike Day LA event in Hollywood. The nicely done video can be seen here, along with a bit more info.

The Australian’s call it Walkabout, a chance to escape from the routine, heading into the empty wilderness to empty the body and soul of built up trash, we call it FLAT OUT.

Using the simplest and cleanest form of transport, a Track bike. Four cyclists, meet at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, to embark on a journey into extreme terrain during dangerous summer conditions, riding a massive 1200km of road in only ten days to the city of Melbourne. The question is… did they make it?

The forthcoming film, Tokyo to Osaka, will chronicle their
seven-day journey, including the mechanical problems and injuries that
tripped them up and the unexpected roadside barbeques and new
friendships that made a cycling trip such a rewarding way to travel.
